Pankaj Tripathi criticises Bollywood stereotyping : he says “we see doctors like katrina Kaif”
In a recent interview With ANI, Mr. Tripathi talked about the prevalent issue of stereotyping.
He opened up about Bollywood’s tendency to stereotype roles based on appearances considering, he has etched the niche For himself in the industry. Mr. Tripathi argued that even if a rich man like Mukesh Ambani were to audition, there are chances that he might not be Cast as a wealthy character due to preconceived notions about appearance.
Tripathi highlighted how cinema sustains stereotypes, talking about times when doctors Were depicted on screen with looks like Katrina Kaif which is in total contrast with the doctors at AIIMS. Mr. Tripathi Did not totally neglect the evolving changes, he acknowledged that the Change is occurring in the right direction, and there is a more diverse representation of characters now than ever. He then drew attention to the need for authenticity in portraying characters, which poses a challenge to traditional perceptions.

Further in the interview, he shared insights into his role of late PM “Atal Bihari Vajpayee”. In the upcoming film MAIN ATAL HOON. The actor conveyed his dedication towards portraying Vajpayee with total honesty, he said he wanted to avoid ‘mere imitation’. Explaining his approach to the role, the actor stated that he wanted to capture the essence of Vajpayee’s personality instead of Mimicking it.
